Why 1878?

David’s family have been involved in the practice of law in South Australia since 1878 when David’s Great Great Grandfather Charles T Hargrave (the Elder) was admitted to the partnership which became ‘Knox, Gwynne & Hargrave’, later known as Knox and Hargrave.

Knox and Hargrave was the oldest law firm in South Australia with a continuous history which can be traced back to a legal partnership created in 1838.

David worked for a later partnership of the Knox and Hargrave firm prior to incorporating 1878 Elix Lawyers in December 2011.

While we acknowledge and respect the long connection to both South Australia and the practice of law, we are committed to making our own mark,  through the experienced and dynamic team at 1878 Elix Lawyers.
